However after almost 18 miles the app crashed and I lost all my data. I was trying a new route, faster speed etc and lost all of it! I initially liked this app. The first issue was that it includes rugged, gravel roads unless I pay a monthly fee. I would gladly do a one time fee and occasional donations.

But I don't want another monthly subscription service. But I still used it until it took me down a private road which ended at a securely gated entrance. That was enough for me. A positive is that it switches between internet and GPS as needed. I would very much be willing to pay a single fee for the app and maybe an occasional upgrade fee.

Horrible routing algorithm. I was given a route ETA 33 minutes, marked as both the fastest and most balanced. I was instead directed up a 60 foot incline over a foot road, then up the highest peak in San Francisco. Lacked bike routes for half the trip. It also is a very good idea. Navigation is helpful, it's nice to get personalized routes based on the bikes you haver. Sadly, location services don't work too well, me recording a route looks totally different than the one I really drive.

Also, I can't follow people like the video indicates, and the interface in the above photos are different than mine. All in all, this is a great app, sadly lacks some features and needs better location services. I also contacted support, I really recommend them, they are very nice and helpful.

I compare the routes to Google Maps with bike routing, and find that BikeMap favors side streets, but does not seem to know bike paths and roads with bike lanes.

Often Google Map gives better routes. Also the underlying map is out of date as it shows business which has closed. Google Maps is more up to date. I suggest the app allow waypoints to be set by touching the map, to force a route I know is better. With its faults I give it 4 stars because there is such a need for bicycle routes and the app does make an attempt.

The clock is always ticking until you actually END the recording. I often stop to eat or have a beer, but I'm not finished riding. There is a button to stop recording, but timer does not stop. I recently started using bike maps to navigate safer bike routes in Las Vegas, and the app does a fine job picking the routes. The only major concern is that the app doesn't give you a heads up when to turn, it only calls the turn as you are right by it. I missed a few of them because of it. It always says 0 on elevation and descent no matter what and I live near lots of uphill trails. Just use Google maps.

As well as recording your rides average speed, fastest and slowest speeds including inclines and declines. When I rIde more frequently and further distance I'm buying the pro version.

I have used this app to find fun new bike routes that take me on roads that aren't super congested with traffic and cars. This app has made me more comfortable with biking more in my everyday life and has therefore been a valuable addition to my life!

I love TrailLink. It is my go to resource for finding new trails in new locations. The app allows me to find suitable trails for my road bike, and then helps me easily navigate to them.

The maps, trail info, and reviews are extremely valuable to me. It will still take me a little more time to get used to the new UI, but the developer seems to have fixed the problems I previously had. Thanks, TrailLink, for reaching out to me and working to make the app awesome again. I am a truck driver and pretty much search for new trails every day, depending on where I happen to be that day. The search location screen is disastrous. If I try to tap one of the autofill suggestions, entirely different cities and states are filled in.

I also hate that I can no longer just scroll around the map and see all the trails in the country. I know, with new updates it takes a while to get the wrinkles ironed out. I have faith the developers will fix these problems. Hopefully soon, as this is one of my most often used apps!

Hi, it would be helpful if you could contact us at traillinksupport railstotrails. There now is a "Search this area" button on the Nearby Trails Screen in version 2. We'll look into adding the "Search this area" option to the individual map screen as well. I did this solely so I could download trail maps prior to going in case I lost service on the trail.

That feature works beautifully. Guess what?? AllTrails, lets be real for a minute. Hiking, biking, exploring, etc. Fix this issue!! Make an offline version of your app so that paid users who have already downloaded maps can actually use them!

With that said, this is an amazing app that is worthy of 5 stars. It is just failing miserably in one particular area that is critical to its use.
